Join Excellent Frameworks Gallery for our first “100 Bucks or Less Island Art Show!”

Vancouver Island Artists are invited to this unjuried art show located in beautiful Downtown Duncan, B.C. This is the first time we have hosted a show where all works are under 100 bucks. This type of accessibly priced art show has been proven popular in cities throughout Canada and the US, so we thought we would give Islanders a chance to try this concept out! Our gallery retail space is approximately 1500 square feet, and we are hoping to fill it with your experimental works, your clearance priced gems that didn’t get their chance to shine, and your creations that have gotten hidden away under the veil of time. This show is not for your ‘perfect’ works!

The Details:

  1. All artworks must be priced 100 Bucks or less.
  2. Each artist must submit one larger sized original artwork priced at 100 dollars. The maximum size is 20” wide and 30” high for this “showcase” piece. This showcase piece is meant to help draw folks to come to opening night to score some fantastic deals!
  3. Maximum of 25 works per artist at this time. (Please note, if the application deadline passes, and we have space for more submissions, we will be reaching out to registered artists for more works).
  4. 2D artworks must be wired and ready to hang. They do not need to be framed.
  5. 3D works must be stable enough to display without any special supports.
  6. Jewelery, art cards, and smaller items must be able to lay flat in their packaging as we are limited on display stands.
  7. Prints and/or matted prints are accepted in clear sleeves.
  8. Registration fee of $40 per artist. A maximum of 50 artists will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
  9. A commission of 10% is collected.


    ***Please note that because this is our first year, we are charging artists a fee to help cover costs of the show. Depending on how this first show goes, we will be aiming to change our fee structure so pricing does not lean on artist registration fees. We hope you understand and will help us out this first year!***


  10. Reproduction giftware is accepted (i.e. Calendars, art cards, mugs, etc). The products must feature your artwork prominently.
  11. Maximum size is 20″ x 30″ per piece.
  12. All artists must reside on Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands.
  13. Unsold artworks will not be shipped back to artists, they must be picked up in person by either the artist or artist representative.
  14. Artworks that are shipped must be properly labelled (see below). If artworks are not labelled as below, they will not be accepted into the show.
  15. Artist must ensure that their work does not infringe any copyright laws.


How to Submit:

  1. Artists must submit their registration fee of $40 in person at 115 Kenneth Street, Downtown Duncan, or by phone (250-746-7112). We can accept credit cards by phone, or etransfer arrangements will be made when you call. Do not send an etransfer without calling first.
  2. Registration deadline is May 31, 2024 at 3:00pm, or for the first 50 artists, whichever comes first.
  3. Once registered, begin prepping your art!
  4. Artworks must be dropped off on Saturday, July 6 or Monday, July 8 between 10:30 am and 3:30 pm with a clearly typed Inventory List.
  5. Artworks must be visibly and clearly labelled on the FRONT of each piece using the following template. Items that do not have a flat surface, or a surface that your don’t want to have a label stuck to, must have the label attached with a short string to the artwork, so purchasers can easily see the information. The label cannot hang more than 2” below the artwork.

  1. Inventory Tracking: Because we are expecting a very full gallery, each item must be tagged on the front of the artwork in the format above. We will be hanging the artwork “as is” and will not be providing printed labels for the artists for this show. Labels can be handwritten using CAPITAL LETTERS ONLY, with a preference for typed, but we get that typing can be a pain ;). The Inventory # in the above template is simply your initials followed by the chronological order of the artwork on your inventory list. (for example: JD09 would be for Jane Dresden, artwork #9 on the inventory list). We will be going through the submissions at drop off quite thoroughly, so expect to spend 10-15 minutes at drop off with us. We promise to make it as efficient as possible! Please reach out to us if you need clarification.
  2. Artists will be paid out by cheque or etransfer approximately 2 weeks after the show.
  3. Pickup of unsold artworks will be on Monday, July 15th and Tuesday, July 16th. If you are unable to pickup your artwork, please arrange for another person to pick it up as space will be limited.

Opening Night: Thursday, July 11 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Art Show Runs Friday, July 12, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday, July 13th 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. (Show runs during Duncan Days)

Art Pickup: Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16 10:00 am to 4:00pm
