Event Date: May 23 – 28, 2016

Excellent Frameworks Gallery is proud to announce the innovative one week showing of “Now and Then”, a unique blend of the natural beauty of the Cowichan Valley, art and photography brought together for a week of revisiting the art of E.J. Hughes.

This week will showcase reproductions by local artist, E.J. Hughes. His local scenes of the Cowichan Valley will be shown alongside current photographs of the same scenes for a visual comparison of how the valley has changed, yet also remained the same since the time of Mr. Hughes’ original works were created.

The E.J. Hughes Gallery was created in 1999 by local gallery owners, Michael Shaw and Janet Truelove Jones. They had attended a showing or E.J.’s work, and the idea of a gallery for his work specifically was born from the suggestions of Pat Salmon, a close friend of E.J. Hughes, and Brian McDaniel. The gallery received strong interest from local art supporters and has grown into a go-to destination for tourists and locals alike. Mr. Hughes was often brought to the gallery by Pat to sign reproductions, which Mr. Hughes enjoyed greatly.
