Shalane is an indigenous artist born and raised in Lillooet, B.C. and is a member of the Secwepemc Nation, (Kamloops) Tk'emlúps te Secwe̓pemc. She started creating meaningful gifts over five years ago, and has been making earrings ever since.
Art has given her an outlet to not only create, it has also helped her though her challenges with mental health and depression. As a single parent, Shalane is inspired by her son, and her business name “Rocklan Art” is named after him.
“Creating are not just to create, but also to tell and share a story is a personal, and meaningful journey. The happiness it brings not only to myself, but to customers makes it all worth it.”
(All earrings are make with faux leather, and are individually hand-cut.)
